The Use of A Spotted Mind

A poem by Isabelle Sorrells

We can’t forget about the bad things.

We can’t throw away the memories that hurt

Or the painful recollections.

Without pain

We are missing half the story.

Because unlike bliss

Pain speaks the truth,

Teaches,

And allows us to appreciate the good things –

The memories that fill us with joy

When they are given to us.

What would the sky be without clouds?
