A poem by Isabelle Sorrells
I know the day has begun –
It is calling for me to join it.
A soft warm beam through the windows to welcome me,
Or an incessant beeping to force me into it’s company.
But these blankets appeal to my comfort and chain me beneath it,
Sucking my awareness dry against my will
And stealing the day away from me
As it holds me buried deep within my dreams –
Abandoning the morning,
And deserting the daylight in it’s loneliness.
When I manage to escape,
I am guilty in missing the day for so long,
But no matter what promises I make,
I repeat my defeat.
